Using the Ultrasound Gel
The ultrasound probe is a vital component of the entire machine and the ultrasound process. It is what creates the sound waves that reflect off the internal organs being examined and picks up those echoes. Acquiring the probe requires the same care taken in buying the machine. Make sure you get it only from a reputable and reliable supplier that offers and honors their warranties, and gives excellent after-sales service.
Be careful when selecting the ultrasound gel. This is important to the entire ultrasound experience, because it bridges the air barrier between the probe and the skin that would affect the performance of the probe. It can also be somewhat messy for the client and challenging to clean if it cannot be seen properly. There are transparent and blue non-staining types to choose from. Make sure that the gel is hypoallergenic and non-irritating, non-sensitizing and bacteriostatic.
The gel is still needed even if it will be a trans-vaginal ultrasound. The gel will be put on the probe that has been protectively covered to prevent it being contaminated when inserted inside the vagina. The trans-vaginal ultrasound is used in checking for female infertility and other diagnostic tests concerning the reproductive organs.
